Find the Perfect Airbnb in Midtown Atlanta For Your Next Stay

As a native Atlantan, I know this city well and am happy to help guide you to find your ideal Airbnb in Midtown Atlanta. We’ve got houses in gorgeous quiet neighborhoods, apartments with skyline views and pools, and cozy carriage houses, all in excellent locations for this vibrant part of Atlanta.

Why Stay in an Airbnb in Midtown Atlanta?

If you’d asked 20 years ago, you would have been steered away from this rather run-down section of town with just a few pockets of culture and aging hotels when planning your vacation. Now it’s a beautiful, walkable section of town with the city’s best park, museums and fantastic restaurants.

It’s also close to the Atlanta BeltLine, a former railway corridor turned multi-use trail that has transformed the city and made it much more pedestrian-friendly.

One of my favorite things to do is go to Ponce City Market, a huge mixed-use development with a large food hall, then walk to Krog Street Market on the BeltLine where you’ll find a much smaller food hall with a few excellent restaurants and Hop City for the beer fans.

Here are just a few of the attractions in Midtown Atlanta:

• The Fox Theatre
• Atlanta Botanical Garden
• The Margaret Mitchell House
• Museum of Design Atlanta
• The Woodruff Arts Center with the High Museum of Art, Alliance Theatre, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
• Piedmont Park

Some of the city’s best restaurants are in Midtown, including some of my favorites, South City Kitchen, The Vortex, Pasta Da Pulcinella, Bulla Gastrobar and Ecco. And if you’re in the mood for burgers, hot dogs or fries, check out The Varsity, the world’s largest drive-in and an Atlanta institution. Don’t forget the F.O. – that’s frosted orange in Varsity lingo.

Please see our related story: Atlanta’s Best Restaurants: Midtown, Downtown, Buckhead and The Battery

Another plus is access to a MARTA train station, part of our public transportation. It’s the easiest and fastest way to get to and from the airport. You can also take it to Buckhead and Downtown Atlanta.

Pro tip: While Atlanta has a lot of wonderful virtues, the city founders displayed an unfathomable lack of imagination when it comes to street names. There are more than 100 streets with Peachtree in them. But when someone directs you to Peachtree in Midtown, they mean the main Peachtree, which runs from downtown way north. And inexplicably changes from Peachtree Street to Peachtree Road. Don’t ask why.

In addition to seeing listings for Midtown rentals, you will also see these neighborhoods during a search for Airbnbs Midtown Atlanta:

Old Fourth Ward: Sometimes called O4W, this former industrial area near the Atlanta BeltLine has been transformed into a trendy area close to a lot of shopping and restaurants.

Ansley Park: This gorgeous residential area with large homes and several parks is close to shopping and restaurants but would be a quieter place to stay. It’s one of the best places to live in Atlanta.

If you’re looking for something a bit out of the ordinary, see our story, Treehouses in Georgia: 25 Places to Sleep in Trees. It includes several treehouses in Atlanta.

[Please note that rates for these Midtown vacation rentals may vary from those listed as sometimes owners change them seasonally or due to other factors. These rates were accurate when this article was published. We have listed these with identifying features to keep them straight, so an apartment listed as Ponce City Market Apartment doesn’t mean it’s in Ponce City but is close to it.]
