Chattanooga, Tennessee, is one of my favorite places for a weekend getaway from Atlanta. On our last trip we stayed in the most amazing treehouse on the side of Lookout Mountain, but this time we’ll select one of these Airbnbs in Chattanooga.
The variety of homes was astounding, so when you’re selecting where to stay, you’ll have some decisions to make. Do you want to stay in the city or in the mountains? Want to try out a tiny home of stay in a cozy cabin? Or maybe you’re looking for views of the Tennessee River.
We also have a lodge that sleeps up to 24 and a mansion that’s like a mini resort with a pool, tennis court and indoor racquetball court.
We’ve narrowed your choices a bit so enjoy reviewing the incredible options below. Please note rates listed for Airbnbs and other rentals are per night and subject to change and often do seasonally. Please check the full listings to see all the details and amenities, including whether the homes are pet-friendly or if they have a minimum stay.
The state line of Georgia borders Chattanooga and while some of these homes are in Georgia, they are close to the city. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a one-hour time change between Tennessee and Georgia.
See our related story: Treehouses in Georgia: 27 Places to Sleep in Trees. A few of these are just across the state line a few minutes from Chattanooga.
Top Attractions in Chattanooga, Tennessee
Here are just a few attractions and sites to see in this city at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.
The Tennessee Aquarium has 10,000 animals and an IMAX theater.
Rock City Gardens. If you’ve road tripped around the South you may have seen some of the barns with red roofs and emblazoned with See Rock City. Located on top of Lookout Mountain just a few miles from downtown, Rock City features the Enchanted Trail where visitors walk through gardens, through Fairyland Caverns and Mother Goose Village.
I have vivid childhood memories of going through the narrow crevasse created by giant rocks called Fat Man Squeeze and taking in the view where you can reportedly see seven states.

Ruby Falls is the deepest commercial cave in the country. Visitors travel down, down, down in an elevator more than 1100 feet underground then stroll through the cave to see the deepest underground waterfall.
Lookout Mountain Incline Railway is a funicular railway that has been taking visitors to the top of Lookout Mountain for more than 125 years.
Bluff View Art District is located above the bluffs of the Tennessee River and features European-style cafes, gardens and inns.
Chattanooga Choo Choo. You’ve heard the song, now see the famous hotel and Terminal Station, the first railway station in the South.
The Riverwalk. This 16-mile paved path runs by the Tennessee River though downtown Chattanooga with several sites of interest along the way.
And if you’re an outdoorsy person, you’ll find plenty of hiking close by and at Cloudland Canyon State Park just a few miles away in Georgia. Chattanooga is a haven for hang-gliders and is home to Lookout Mountain Flight Park, the largest and most popular hang gliding school in the United States.
Fun Facts About Chattanooga

• It was the first city to be wired for 1 gigabit-per-second fiber optic Internet in 2010. Then in 2015 the city added 10 gigabit-per-second internet, faster than Time Warner Cable! That’s one of the reasons you’ll find so many tech firms there.
• It was home to the first Coca-Cola Bottling Company.
• That quintessential southern snack, the Moon Pie, started here.
• Glenn Miller recorded “Chattanooga Choo Choo” in 1941 and it became the first song to win a gold record.
