There’s a lot to love about a Kimpton hotel. The plush animal robes that make feel like someone’s cherished stuffed animal. The lively evening wine hours, a wonderful welcome back after a day of sight-seeing. The rosemary-scented Aveda shampoo and conditioner.
But my favorite feature ever is this delightful window seat in the Hotel Monaco in Chicago where I’m spending a few days. As soon as I got into my room I leapt over the white leather coach and made myself at home. I reluctantly tore myself away to go explore one of the best cities in the world.
After dinner I contemplated going back out, but after pouring myself a glass of wine, I settled myself in the window where I could I could watch boats passing on the Chicago River, tourists zipping by on Segways down Wacker Drive, bikers on Wabash and plenty of pedestrians enjoying the warm summer evening. I realized I could enjoy the scenes of Chicago from here, my city version of a front porch.
